Home Made Travel Humidor – Part 3

By Ron

OK, lets finish up our home made travel humidor. In the picture below, you will see the airtight container that we are using for our home made travel humidor. You will also see the 3 foam trays that we discussed in part 2. You will also see the lid with the foam retention bar glued into place.

What we didnt go over in part 1 and 2 was humidification and adding some spanish cedar to your home made travel humidor. The best choice for humidifying this home made humidor will be the Humidipak cigar humidifier. Its simple to use. No need to add water, no fuss, no muss. Just throw in in with your cigars, and you are done. In an airtight travel humidor like what we just made, this Humidipak should last at least a year. Not bad for $2. I always tell people that if Carlito Fuente trusts the Humidipak to protect his cigars while they are being shipped, you can trust the Humidipak to take care of your cigars. You will see the humidipak in the picture above.

Also in the picture above is a thin sheet of spanish cedar. Spanish cedar will give your cigars a nice aroma, and it will also help keep the humidity even in your home made travel humidor.

Next picture is the 3 foam cigar trays loaded with cigar, and yes, they will all fit in the home made travel humidor.

The last picture shows the home made travel humidor loaded with the cigars. I put the spanish cedar sheet in first. Then the Humidipak, then the foam travel humidor trays and the cigars.

Where do you get all the parts that you need for your home made travel humidor?
I got the container for Wal-Mart.
The spanish cedar sheet came from a box of cigars. This is just a real thin sheet that some cigar companies put in the box to separate the cigars. You can also get one from a cigar shop.
The Humidipak and foam travel humidor trays can be purchased at Cigar Solutions.
